This piece was inspired by the evocative scene of light shining from an isolated lighthouse surrounded by waves which are sometimes turbulent and sometimes subdued. The symbolism of this scene could be interpreted as the inner light of the human spirit, continuing to shine brightly in the face of adversity.
Premiered by Rebecca Chan (violin), Johannes Rostamo (cello) and Jeremy Eskenazi (piano) in 2014 in the Eugene Goosens Hall, ABC Sydney, Australia, and broadcast live on ABC Classic FM as part of the 'Sunday Live' program.
